Florida 2011

Travel

In March we met Carol's sister Candy and her husband Charles in Navarre, FL near Pensacola.  We stayed at Emerald Beach RV park and visited the Naval Aviation Museum, the Pensacola Lighthouse, Blackwater State Park, and the Air Force Armament Museum in Eglin.  The Naval Aviation Museum is a truly first class facility housing a very large variety of aircraft in several buildings.  We also watched a practice session of the Navy's Blue Angels and had lunch in the officer's canteen moved intact from the Subic Bay Naval Base in the Philippines.

We picnicked at Blackwater State Park where it was calm and serene with beautiful sandy beaches.  We wished we had brought some canoes.

After being misled by our GPS we finally found the Dairy Queen in Mary Esther, FL (it's in a mall!) and had our mandatory daily Blizzard.

The Air Force Armament Museum is small but has a great static display of a large variety of aircraft around the building, including the T-33 that I got to fly one time while in college.
